That really is shocking. Even the places that don't look so damaged at first glance are completely boarded up....this must be affecting so many lives.
Thank you Peter.
I was down a couple of weeks back. All the wreckage and rubbish has been taken away, but there are empty sections all over the city. My other brother gave me a running commentary on the way back to the airport too. This building is condemned, this one and that one. Your old high school is back in operation after sharing the campus of a nearby school. I've been away for for forty years but usually went back regularly. I still get shocked every time i see videos about the city. Christchurch was such a beautiful flat city, with lots of parks and gardens. I'll go back again early next year and take some busrides around the place they have just started. I can't identify some streets, but even residents find this, until you recognise a shop or store.
Wow! Such devastaation.....Thanks for this; gave me a good dea of what I would have liked to see if I had 'hopped across' from Oz...on recent visit....
It is heart-breaking to see just what went in a minute or two. They have cleaned up the mess and left empty building lots that scar the city's surface.
